Sapphire (Aluminium oxide, Al2O3, Corundum group) refers mostly to a blue gem variety of corundum (see also bai dur ya), but other colored varieties of corundum are also described as sapphire, except red corundum, which is better known as Ruby (mindat.org). In the indian context, indranīlaka is given as emerald (see margat) (wisdomlib.org)
