rnam thos kyi bu

As one of the four mahārājas, he is the lord of the northern region of the world and the northern continent, though in early Buddhism he is the lord of the far north of India and beyond. He is also the lord of the yakṣas and a lord of wealth.

Literally, "Child of He who has Heard a Lot." Name of one of the four great kings who rule over the four directions in the desire realm.

One of the "four great kings, guardians of the world," he is held to dwell in the north, presiding over the yakṣa spirits that live there.
