1) red haunting spirit, red haunting ghost, red haunting demon; 2) red cursing spirit, red cursing ghost, red cursing ghost; 3) red battle spirit, red battle ghost, red battle demon; 4) red violent spirit, red violent ghost, red violent demon; 5) red vengeful spirit, red vengeful ghost, red vengeful demon; 6) red pestilent spirit, red pestilent ghost, red pestilent demon; 7) red warlike spirit, red warlike ghost, red warlike demon; 8) red hunting spirit, red hunting ghost, red hunting demon; 9) a red 'fury', or cthonic type of red spirit; 10) red infernal spirit, red infernal ghost, red infernal demon. One of the 'Eight Classes of Gods and Demons' (lha srin sde brgyad). Probably a kind of preta or hungry ghost, but with apparent asura or combative demigod tendencies, and often (though not always) described as malevolent. [Erick Tsiknopoulos]
