The Four Joys, the Four Degrees of Joy, the Four Delights.The Four Joys (dga’ ba bzhi) represent a progressive deepening of meditative ecstasy and primordial wisdom experienced as the vital essences (thig le) move through the central channel: Joy (dga’ ba) is the initial experience of bliss as the essences begin to flow; Supreme Joy (mchog dga’) is an intensified state that surpasses ordinary sensation; Special Joy (khyad dga’) is an extraordinary, distinct joy marking the transition beyond conceptual dualism; and Co-emergent Joy (lhan skyes dga’ ba) is the ultimate realization in which bliss and emptiness are inseparable (bde stong).
