A small hawk, often in quick hunting-flight. From woodland to farmland and urban areas.
'Jam-dpal describes the bya khra as smaller than 'ol ba (Black Kite), and byi'u khra as smaller than bya khra.
khra is a generic name in the falcon-like order (falcons, hawks, kestrels, merlins, harriers etc.), with few specific names, like 'ol ba for the Black Kite. (David Holler, Tibetbirds.com).
