preparations. Preparations (lhag gnas) refers to the preliminary ritual (sta gon). The ritual for the land (sa chog) means taking hold of the site. Thus, there are the preparatory ritual for the deity (lha sta gon), for the vase (bum pa sta gon) and for the disciple (slob ma sta gon). Lhag gnas can sometimes also mean consecration (rab gnas).
