1. Bombax ceiba L. (Malvaceae) Kapok, Silk Cotton Tree (Dawa 1999; Wangyal 2020). Sanskrit : śālmalī (Dash 1989, Pandanus). Sanskrit : śālmalī (Dash 1989, Pandanus). In the tibetan context na ga ge sar is identified with Bombax ceiba, the Kapok Tree, and the Shel gong shel phreng describes it's conspicious features, a thorny trunk and showy red flowers. The sanscrit name śālmalī (reflected in the valid botanical synonym Salmalia malabarica), is given as synonym for la cha as well as mon cha ra in the Shel gong shel phreng, which indicates it's use as host tree for lac-producing insects.
2. Mesua ferrea L. (Calophyllaceae) Ceylon ironwood, Cobra saffron (Molvray 1988 Dh,T). Sanskrit nāgakesara, nāgapuṣpa (Pandanus), cāmpeya (Wojtilla 2002). The na ga ge sar of the ayurvedic tradition.
