pha bang long bu is described as having the aspect of gru bzhi (a Limonite), purple violet outside and like golden ore inside. Identified as Galena and Pyrite, the description is closer to the latter mineral (see stang zil for Galena). Pyrite (Iron sulphide [FeS2]) is a very common mineral of pale brass-yellow colour ('fool's gold') and with a greenish-black streak. Pyrite will slowly oxidize, with the help of various bacteria, in a moist environment, and release sulfuric acid that is formed during the process. Well-crystallized specimens are generally relatively stable, while pyrite formed as sedimentary concretions has a tendency to decompose quickly (mindat.org).
The indian name suvarṇamākṣika refers to a bright yellow mineral, thought to be iron pyrite (wisdomlib.org).
