Natural earth medicine. Internal brittle and gas-filled structure of cuttlefish, consisting primarily of Aragonite (CaCO3).
The indian name samudraphena, 'sea-foam', denotes the dorsal scale of the cuttle-fish, Sepia officinalis. It is so light that it floats (wisdomlib.org). The Chinese Pharmacopoeia prescribes Sepia esculenta and Sepiella inermis for the drug Sepiae Endoconcha.
