Khyenrab Norbu who distinguished a superior and inferior type. The Lhasa sman rtsis khang identifies this plant as rtsa mkhris mchog (Dawa 1999). Synonyms : rgya khur sngon po (Lama 2001 Dolpo)

All genera of the Cichorieae tribe in the Asteraceae have latex and almost all only ligulate florets, like chicory or dandelions (khur mang).

The Shel gong shel phreng distinguishes a black type (rtsa mkhris nag po), similar to dandelion (khur nag), growing on field borders with yellow flowers, milky sap and bitter taste. The white type (rtsa mkhris dkar po) has dark flowers (colour not specified) and wooly leaves (Kletter 2001).
