The Shel gong shel phreng discribes 3 types of spra thog : 1. spra rgod, the largest type with thick leaves covered with wooly hairs. 2. spra g.yung grows in meadows along streams and develops pale, yellow flowers. 3. spra chung is not detailed. Basically all species of Anaphalis and Leontopodium are used as spra thog (Kletter 2001). spra g.yung coincides with species having slender rhizomes, whereas spra rgod coincides with species having thick rhizomes.
