"phug ron is a generic name for pigeons, like the Rock Pigeon (Columba livia) which one sees everywhere. thi ba denotes the doves (often Streptopelia sp). Learned tibetans make this distinction, but may be it's due to a modern, western influence." (David Holler, tibetbirds.com).
For Paljor (2018) phug ron and thi ba are synonymous, denoting the Hill Pigeon (Columba rupestris).
