Four right exertions. To avoid giving rise to nonvirtuous qualities, to abandon the ones that have arisen, to give rise to virtuous qualities, and to avoid letting the ones that have arisen degenerate. They are perfected on the medium stage of the path of accumulation [RY]

Four right exertions, four correct endeavors / efforts, the four correct renunciations, the four stages of complete abandonment, in nyan thos, tshogs lam abandoning. 1) nonvirtuous actions before they occur. 2) nonvirtuous actions which occur to the mind, developing.3) virtuous actions which have not yet occurred to the mind, cultivating. 4) virtuous actions that have already been developed. Four Correct Trainings. The aspiration that sinful, non-virtuous attributes, which have not arisen, may not be developed, the aspiration that sinful, non-virtuous attributes which have arisen may be renounced, the aspiration that virtuous attributes which have not arisen may be developed, and the aspiration that virtuous attributes which have arisen may remain, and be unchanging and entirely perfect in the future [RY]
