The White Butterfly could very well be a member of the generally white, high-elevation genus Parnassius, known as snow Apollos, comprising some 40 species of alpine and himalayan butterflies (wikipedia). <br>

The spru ma plant is ill defined for the moment, with a superior and inferior white type, a black and a yellow type. Furthermore, Sangye Gyatso speaks in his commentary of the Four Tantras of the 'seed of the spru ma plant', spru ma'i 'bru, with the only exception of the thangka image.
