He works now as a research fellow at the [[Institute for the History and Culture of India and Tibet]] at the University of Hamburg. His research in progress is dealing with the Indian origins of Tibetan mahāmudrā traditions. He obtained a PhD from Marburg University with a translation and study of the [[Dharmadharmatāvibhāga]] and recently completed his "Habilitation" at the University of Hamburg with a work on [[´Gos Lo tsā ba gZhon nu dpal]]´s (1392-1481) mahāmudrā interpretation of the [[Uttaratantra]] (Tib. [[rGyud bla ma]]). Dr. Klaus-Dieter Mathes already published his critial edition of [[gZhon nu dpal]]´s Uttaratantra commentary in the monograph series of the [[Nepal Research Centre]] (check the local book shops in Bauddha or contact the Franz Steiner Verlag in Stuttgart).
