Short Biography

Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche, Tsering Paldron(b.1969): As the daughter of His Holiness Mindrolling Trichen, head of the Nyingma School, Mindrolling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche, as she is widely known, was born in the lineage of Mindrolling, which throughout its history has had many accomplished and renowned female masters. At the age of two, Rinpoche was recognized by His Holiness the 16th Karmapa as the re-incarnation of the Great Dakini of Tsurphu, Khandro Ugyen Tsomo who was a one of the most well known female masters of her time. Thus, the present Khandro Rinpoche came to hold the lineages of both the Nyingma and Kagyu schools.

Khandro Rinpoche studied under many learned teachers and received numerous transmissions within both the Nyingma and Kagyu traditions. Besides studying from various khenpos, Rinpoche also received teachings and transmissions from some of the most accomplished masters of recent times, such as His Holiness Mindrolling Trichen, His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, His Eminence Trulzhig Rinpoche, His Eminence Tenga Rinpoche, His Eminence Tsetrul Rinpoche, and His Eminence Tulku Ugyen Rinpoche.

Rinpoche has been teaching for nearly fifteen years and has developed a vast activity in both Europe and North America, teaching within both the Kagyu and Nyingma schools. Rinpoche has also established and heads the Samten Tse Retreat Centre in India for nuns as well as western practitioners. Rinpoche’s efforts at Samten Tse are directed towards fulfilling her vision of providing a place of study and retreat for both nuns and lay practitioners, as well as establishing a spiritual community of both monastics and lay-practitioners with students from both East and West living together.

Charitable Projects Rinpoche also heads various charitable projects such as initiatives for health care and education in remote areas, the leprosy project, and the Dharmashri Journal, besides being very actively involved with the Mindrolling monastery in India. Establishment of Lotus Garden (Pema Gatsal) in the USA In keeping with the vision of the Rimé movement of Tibetan Buddhism to promote a non-sectarian approach to the study and practice of Buddhism, Rinpoche established Lotus Garden in Stanley, Virginia, USA. Lotus Garden will offer its facilities to Buddhist teachers of all of the schools of Tibetan Buddhism for group teachings and retreats, as well as to individuals interested in solitary retreats. The establishment of Buddhism in the West will be furthered at Lotus Garden by the opportunity for intensive study of Buddhist philosophy, texts and the sciences. Lotus Garden will also be home for a translation committee and production of the Dharmashri Journal, a Tibetan Buddhist publication.
