Olivierus martensii, Chinese scorpion (dGa' ba'i rDo rje 1995)

Generally, sdig srin denotes crabs, and sdig pa a scorpion, as it is illustrated in the Medical Thangkas or is found in general dictionaries.
However, the term sdig srin can include the names for both, freshwater crabs and the Chinese scorpion.
dGa' ba'i rDo rje (1995) treats both in the single notice sdig srin, distinguishing between a bigger sdig srin dkar po (crabs) and a smaller sdig srin nag po (scorpion), the latter is also called sdig pa ra tsa, each with respective synonyms. Later he quotes De'u dmar, explaining that the term sdig srin carries the names of both : sdig pa ser po dang srin bu ka ka ru nag chung gnyis yod par sdig srin zhes gnyis kyi ming ngo. In consequence, he describes both in a single notice, as crabs and the scorpion have similar medicinal properties.
'Jam-dpal chosed to give separate notices, sdig pa for crabs (with the precision that out of the two types it is the white one, or sdig srin), and sdig pa ra dza for the scorpion.
