Acording to local history, and to a guide to Lapchi, composed in 1901 by the 34th throne holder ([[gdan rabs]]) of the [[Drikung Kagyu]], [[bstan ’dzin chos kyi blo gros]] (1869-1906), this cave was not used by Milarepa himself but by a student of [[Drikung Kyobpa Jigten Sumgon]], who prophesied that he would achieve great realisation there.
