pitaka receptacle of doctrine, doctrinal basket, sacred writings, baskets, scriptures, division of the scriptures [JV]

Pitaka. 'Basket', collection of the Buddhist scriptures. There are three - Vinaya, Sutra and Abhidharma [RY]

Piṭaka, the scriptural collection(s). Generally refers to the three of the Tripiṭaka: Sūtra Piṭaka, Vinaya Piṭaka and Abhidharma Piṭaka. In some cases, there are separate scriptural collections or piṭaka for each Vehicle (yana). [Erick Tsiknopoulos]
