Unicode Editors
One of the major advantages of Unicode is platform independence. If an Operating System supports a Tibetan Input Method and is able to display complex scripts, all applications should be able to edit and display Tibetan text.
See Tibetan Unicode Installation on how to enable existing standard word processors (Microsoft Office or OpenOffice) for Tibetan.
For other platforms (e.g. older Windows versions), specialized Tibetan Editors have been created.
UDP - The Unicode Document Processor for Tibetan
UDP is a stand-alone document processing program that works with European, Tibetan, Dzongkha and many other languages in the Win/98/ME and Win/NT/2000/XP environments.
UDP reads a large number of legacy document and font formats and can convert them to [Tibetan Unicode].
UDP is one of the most useful tools to convert TibetDoc or RTF documents encoded in legacy fonts into standard Tibetan Unicode

Legacy Font Formats
Legacy Editors were created before the Tibetan Unicode standard existed. During those times, proprietary font formats were the only way to edit texts in Tibetan fonts. Unfortunately a chaotic number of variants of proprietary encoding schemes for Tibetan Fonts was created in the early days of Tibetan text processing. A number of Font Conversion Programs address this problem.
TibetDoc
One of the earliest and most well known of the proprietary Tibetan text editors.
