the four rivers and eight ridges. The boundaries of Greater Tibet [RY]
Chushi Gangdruk (chu bzhi sgang drug) "Four Rivers, Six Ranges" is the name traditionally given to the eastern Tibetan region of Kham where the gorges of the four rivers: Salween (rngul chu); Mekong (zla chu); Yangtze ('bri chu); and Yalong (rdza chu or nyag chu (?) — all arising on the Tibetan Plateau, pass between six parallel ranges of mountains that form the watersheds for these rivers. The Tsawa Gang (tsha ba sgang) range lies between the Salween and Mekong; the Zelmo Gang (zal mo sgang) (or zla mo gang (?)) range between the northern reaches of the Yangtze and Yalong Rivers; the Markham Gang (smar khams sgang) range between the Mekong and Yangtze Rivers; the Powor Gang (spo 'bor sgang) ( or Pomser Gang (spom ser sgang(?)) range between the southern Yangtze and lower Yalong rivers; the Mardza Gang (dmar rdza sgang) (or Dridza Zermo Gang ('bri rdza zer mo sgang (?)) between the upper Yalong and Yellow (rma chu) Rivers ; and the Minyak Rabgang (mi nyag rab sgang) range which lies between the lower Yalong and Gyal rong Rivers.
