'Chi med lam (“immortal path”) is a poetic term for the sky; hence "the heavenly pathways of the immortals", "the sky paths of the immortals", etc. The implication is that the sky is the place where the "immortal" gods, whether worldly deva-s or transcendental deities, traverse and reside; symbolically speaking.
