utpāta

<k1>utpAta<k2>utpAta utpāta¦, m. (or °taka, m., or upādu, m.; = Skt. utpātaka, Mbh 18.44, AMg. uppāyaga, Ratnach. 5.15; cf. Pali uppāṭaka, an insect), flea; three variants, upāduḥ Mvy 4858, utpātaḥ 4859, °takaḥ 4860; Mironov utpāta- kaḥ, v.l. utpātaḥ only; Tib. lji ba, or khyi śig, both flea. With the form upādu may be compared Skt. Lex. (Trik.) upādika, some sort of insect.
