English Definition The Jonang school. A school of Tibetan Buddhism akin to the Kagyud tradition instituted by Tāranatha and his followers. During the 11th century the view of Other Emptiness (gzhan-stong) was asserted by Yomo Mikyod Dorjee, and a monastic institution for the study and preservation of this philosophy was established at Jonang by Kunpang Thugje Tsondru, and later Dolpo Sherab Gyaltsen became a propounder of this philosophy.
