Latin: Emblica officinalis. Sanskrit: Amalaki. English: Indian gooseberry.

Emblica officinalis, sour fruit which cures diseases of phlegm, bile and blood, olive, fruit of phyllanthus emblica, 1 of 'bras bu gsum, emblica officinalis, emblic myrobalan [JV]

amalaki, a medicinal plant, emblic myrobalan. Also skyur ru ra Amla fruit comes from Emblica officinalis, a tropical and sub-tropical medium sized tree that grows in arid areas. It is very highly regarded for traditional use as a heart tonic and as a rasayana for long life. [RY]

1. Phyllanthus emblica L. (Phyllantaceae), Emblic myrobalan, Amla, Indian gooseberry (Wangyal 2020)
2. Crataegus pentagyna Waldst. & Kit. ex Willd. Rosaceae), Small flowered black hawthorn (Molvray 1988 G,H,P). Cited from northern sources, substitute used by mongol or buryat practioners.
3. Rhaphiolepis bibas (Lour.) Galasso & Banfi (Rosaceae), Loquat, Japanese medlar (Molvray 1988 R,G,Dh). According to Molvray's sources, either identified as skyu ru ra or as zhu mkhan.

The third of the 3 myrobalans which open the plant section in the Shel gong (a ru ra, ba ru ra, skyu ru ra).
