(med) In the medical context bad kan is one of the 3 nyes pa. It is connected to deludedness and the elements of water (bad) and earth (kan). It's energy is responsible for firmness of the body, stability of the mind, flexibility of the joints, and providing fluidity in the body.
There are five specific types of bad kan, each with specific locations and functions :
bad kan rten byed - supporting bad kan
bad kan myag byed - decomposing bad kan
bad kan myong byed - bad kan which allows tasting or experiencing
bad kan tshim byed - satisfying bad kan
bad kan ‘byor byed - connecting bad kan
