(med) In the medical context translated differently as humours, principle energies etc. The 3 nyes pa comprise rlung, mkhris pa and bad kan, and each are connected to a basic emotion and the 5 basic elements. The body is constituted by the 5 basic elements in the same way as the environment. Wind sets in motion, earth gives the base, water makes interconnections, fire allows development and ripening, wind again allows growth and proliferation, and space makes expansion possible. rlung, the most subtle of the 3 nyes pa, is connected to desire and the air element. mkhris pa is connected to anger and the fire element. bad kan is connected to deludedness and the elements of water (bad) and earth (kan). The space element pervades all. Their balance in the body is influenced by multiple factors, like the environment, seasons, daily and monthly rythms, behaviour, diet, the 6 tastes etc. If out of balance, they cause disorders and sicknesses.
