• A synonym for elemental divination ('byung rtsis), which includes the ancient system of Chinese divination (rgya rtsis rnying ma) based on the relationships formed between the five elements, and the later calendrical observations (rgya rtsis gsar ma), which were gradually introduced to Tibet from the seventeenth century onwards.
