Scapegoat Effigy (glud)

  • A ritual substitute or "scapegoat" is constructed in the form of a dough or clay effigy resembling the subject in order to deflect life-threatening afflictions from the subject. Such rituals are applied in the context of the ritual deception of death, and are considered to be an aspect of skilful means. GD (from the Glossary to Tibetan Elemental Divination Paintings)
