cedar used medicinally [JV]
Himalayan cedar, deodar/devdar/devadar/devadaru cedar, red cedar, blood-red cedar, "plains-blood cedar". Its scientific name is Cedrus deodara, a combined Latin/Sanskrit etymology which comes from colloquial Hindustani देओदार deodār, from Medieval Hindi देवदारु devdāru, ultimately from Sanskrit देवदारु devadāru, 'divine tree' (Latin cedrus meaning 'cedar').
