Alcohol, liquor. Originally from Arabic عَرَق (ʿaraq), this loanword is also found in Malay (arak), Indonesian (arak), Portuguese (araque) and even English, where it means beer, an alcoholic beverage usually made from fermenting rice or rice wine, a Middle Eastern aniseed-flavoured alcoholic drink.
