Skt. अवैवर्तिकभूमि avaivartika-bhūmi. 1) the stage of non-retrogression, the level of non-retrogression, the ground of non-retrogression; 2) the stage of irreversibility, the level of irreversibility, the ground of irreversibility; 3) the stage of non-return, the level of non-return, the ground of non-return; 4) the stage of non-regression, the level of non-regression, the ground of non-regression. Usually equated with the 8th Bodhisattva Level, 'Unswerving', 'Immovable' or 'Unshakeable' (Skt. acala, Tib. mi g.yo ba), this is the state in which a bodhisattva will never fall back into cyclic existence as an ordinary sentient being.
