āvaraṇa¦, nt. (= Pali id.; see also an-āv° and āvṛti), hindrance, obstruction (= pratighātaḥ Bbh 38.19; in Tib. standardly rendered sgrib pa, darkness, obscuration, hence sin); Lévi, Sūtrāl. i.6, note.
