stang zil is black. It has been identified with massicot, litharge, Tourmaline or simply a black stone silver ore. Massicot and litharge are orange-red and red. Tourmaline can be black, but is a translucent gem, not a stone. Galena (Lead sulfite, PbS), of lead-grey colour, is the primary ore mineral of lead. Worked for its lead content as early as 3000 BC, it is found in ore veins with sphalerite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, etc. It contains often silver and is a frequent ore of that metal as well. stang zil, gser zil and dngul zil are treated in the same notice in the Shel phreng.
The indian name añjana refers first to collyrium or black pigment for the eyes, and denotes also the mineral galena, lead sulfite, as well as black antimony. (wisdomlib.org).
