Ajapāla-nyagrodha¦ (= Pali °nigrodha), the Goat- herd's Banyan, under which Buddha spent some time (the 6th week, according to Mv) shortly after enlight- enment: Mv iii.302.21; 313.18. Story of how it got its name, Mv iii.301.8 ff. (apparently does not occur in Pali; doubtless a late invention based on the name); ajapālasya nya° iii.302.21; 425.18, 23; 436.19, 22.
