Hastikakṣya¦, nt. (cf. Skt. kakṣa, kakṣyā), n. of a Buddhist work: Mvy 1399 (Mironov v.l. °kakṣa); Laṅk 258.4 (vv.ll. °kakṣa, °kaccha), cited Śikṣ 133.4 (as °kakṣya). Tib. and Chin. interpretations of the name vary; Tib. for Laṅk glaṅ poḥi mtshan bciṅs, binding of elephants; other (Chin. and Jap.) versions render kakṣ(y)a by part(s) under the forelegs; Tib. on Mvy by rtsal, skill, dexterity (some Chin. versions courage, or strength).
