abhisaṃmodayati¦, greets in the sense of confronts, something unpleasant, viz. the evil deeds of former births: Mv i.26.7 taṃ pūrve manuṣyabhūtehi abhisaṃskṛtaṃ abhisaṃmodayitaṃ (so most mss., but one °dayitvā, prob. read so!) niyataṃ vedanīyaṃ, that which they for- merly accomplished (or accumulated) while men, having confronted, must assuredly be suffered (in hell). Senart em. and renders otherwise.
