? kāraṇī¦, adj. f. or subst. assimilated in gender to f. subject, cause, thing that gives rise to (gen.): Laṅk 109.4 yadi…māyāprakhyā bhrāntis tenānyasyā bhrānteḥ (read bhrāntiḥ with all mss. except one bhrāntyāḥ) kāraṇī bhaviṣyati.But kāraṇībhaviṣyati (one word) may be intended; not however stem *kāraṇin with Suzuki, Index.
