pramuñcana¦ (nt.), or adj. (in comp.; to prec. with ana), sending forth (usually rays of light): clearly subst. in raśmijāla-°ne Suv 166.7, upon the emission of a mass of light (from the sun); in cpds. usually hard to tell whether adj. or n. (if n., in Bhvr. cpd.): Gv 3.11; 18.9; 29.24 (jñānaraśmi-°naḥ, ep. of Buddha); 117.6 (raśmi-); 210.13; 269.7 (prabhā-); raśmi-pramocana-, text of KN in SP 17.3 (most mss. pramuñcana) and 7 (here no v.l. in KN; but WT in both places pramuñcana, with their ms. Ḱ). Cf. saṃpramuñcana.
