English Definition | [pudgala nairātmya]/ Selflessness of person. In its highest sense it is the lack of inherent existence of person. According to the [vaibhāṣika], [sautrāntikas], [cittamātrins] and [svātrantikas] selflessness of person is either the non-existence of a permanent, single, independent person or the non-existence of a self-sufficient substantially existent person. According to [prāsaṅgika] the selflessness of person is either non-existence of a self-sufficient substantially existent person or nonexistence of an inherently existent person. |
