Gangteng Sangngak Chöling Monastery is one of the most important Nyingma monasteries in Bhutan and a center of the Pema Lingpa tradition. It was established by Gyalse Pema Thinley (1564-1642) the first Peling Gyalse or Gangteng Tulku considered to be the combined body and activity emanation of Terton Pema Lingpa and it is the seat of this incarnation lineage.
