Root Texts of the Nyingthig
The main texts and commentarial literature of the Longchen Nyingthig are contained in three volumes. Together, these are referred to as the Nyingthig Tsapod. A fourth volume of commentarial literature compiled by [[Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo] is sometimes added, making four volumes.
Properly known as the Longchen Nyingtik Tsapo (klong chen snying thig rtsa pod), this is the collection of all essential prayers, saddhanas and tshok for the Nyingma Terma Linegage of Jigme Lingpa’s Longchen Nyingtik. This collection has grown from its original 3 volumes to 4 compiled by Khyentse Wangpo and now to its 5 volume collection put together by Dilgo Khyentse. This collection continues to grow because of its inclusion of all the Empowerment, retreat and visualization manuals; as well as daily practice liturgies, Long-life practices and empowerments and the Tsalung and Trulkhor set of teachings.
