The 6th Khamtrul Rinpoche was born in 1848 in the Nangchen region of Tibet. At an early age he was recognized as the 6th Khamtrul Rinpoche by Choegon Rinpoche Thuchen Choekyi Nyinjed. He received many teachings from Choegon Rinpoche while he was at Khampargar Monastery and also from His Holiness the Ninth Gyalwang Drukpa Jigmed Migyur Wanggi Gyalpo. Tenpe Nyima spent most of his time in retreat and when not in retreat he travelled extensively giving teachings in Eastern Tibet and China. Among his students were the kings of Derge, Nangchen, Khatok and Ling. He passed away at the age of 59, leaving behind an intact treasury of teachings in care of his numerous students. It is because of his efforts that all of the hundreds of volumes of the Drukpa Lineage are available today. The Togden Shakya Shri was one of his Lineage holders. | |||
