- Traditionally, once a year, the whole population of a village and its surroundings would gather and recite together a hundred million mani mantras. i.e. the mantra of Avalokitesvara, "om mani padme hung". During this time, a lama would give daily teachings on the Dharma. [MR-ShabkarNotes]
