1. Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper (Fabaceae) Black gram, Urad bean (Molvray 1988). Different from Green gram or Mung beans (Vigna radiata (L.) R. Wilczek). Both grow naturally in India.
2. Phaseolus vulgaris L. (Fabaceae) Common bean (Wangyal 2020). Common beans are of Central american origin. Introduced in the beginning of the 16th century in Europe, and possibly in the same century in India.

The pulses, sran ma, described in the Shel gong comprise sran chen dkar po (Soya bean), sran ril (Pea), sran leb (Lentil), mon sran dkar po (Hyacinth bean), mon sran gre'u (Urad bean), bal sran and rgya sran (Broad bean) as well as sran ma'i me tog.
