(med) Five Roots

The plants making up the Five Roots are described together in the Shel phreng as well as the mDzes mtshar mig rgyan : lca ba, nye shing, ra mnye, a shwa gan dha/ba spru and gze ma.

For their effects the Four Tantras mentions :
lca bas chu ser mkhal rked grang ba sel / nye shing ra mnyes tshe bsring chu ser sel / a sho gandhas smad grang chu ser sel / gze mas gcin sri grum bu mkhal nad sel //

lca ba cures disorders of the chu ser and cold disorders associated with the kidney and lower back. nye shing and ra mnye prolong life and cure chu ser disorders. a sho gandha cures cold disorders of the lower body and chu ser disorders. gze ma cures difficulty of urination, arthritis and kidney disorders (Paljor 2018, p 212).
