Rangjung Dorje, the 3rd Karmapa (1284-1339)

Rangjung Dorje, rang byung rdo rje, (1284-1339). He was a contemporary of the great Longchen Rabjam (klong chen rab 'byams) and they shared a very close relationship. Rangjung Dorje and Longchenpa studied together under Rigdzin Kumaradza (rig 'dzin ku ma ra dza ye shes gzhon nu 1266-1343) and consulted each other frequently on various matters. He developed his own Dzogchen practice system known as Karma Nyingthig kar ma snying thig.
